Bento Bag Tutorial

This tutorial is based on a pattern I found in a Japanese pattern book. The finished bag is about 10″ wide and 18″ inches tall, when laid flat. This design uses a single piece of fabric.

The instructions below are divided into two images. Drag them onto your desktop and print them out to use while you are working.

Ok. Let’s start. First cut your fabric, then mark with chalk.

Hem the short sides of the fabric.

Fold the fabric, matching stars on one side.

Serge that matched side together.

Repeat on the other side, then use a straight stitch to finish the ties.
